This Beaded Lakota Style pipe bag is an exceptional example of stitch beadwork! Used to carry a ceremonial pipe and tobacco, the artist constructed this unique tab style pipe bag with soft Deerskin Leather. This bag also features beaded drops, metal cones, and long leather fringe. The artist beaded the opening of the bag and attached a leather lace which can be used to tie shut the pipe bag.
They beaded body of the bag with 11/0 seed beads. The artist created a design including geometric patterns. They used primarily Czechoslovakian Seed Beads in Red, Navy Blue, and Greasy Yellow. The design is the same on both sides of the bag. The artist continued the same color scheme on the side seams and opening. For a finishing touch, two beaded tassels hang from the leather lace.
The body of the pipe bag measures 22" long and 5" across.
