Carved from wood and painted black with red, yellow, and white speckled details, this horse stick features a Parfleche eagle shield adorned with trade cloth, leather ears, a feather plume, and a mane and tail of genuine horsehair. Pony and metal beads accent the leather reins and the base of the tail, while a seed-beaded saddle with leather fringes completes this ceremonial piece, honoring the artistry and tradition of the Lakota Horse Dance.
